A National Service Member was killed in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region.
According to reports, the deceased, identified as Gowugade Denis, was fatally shot while on his farm with his family. No one has been arrested in connection with the crime.
Bright Lenwah, Municipal Chief Executive for Nkwanta South, described the incident as unfortunate in an interview on Joy FM’s MiddayNews on Saturday.
“It is very disheartening to wake from time to time to hear of such incidents,” he said.
He stated that authorities were working hard to rethink and modify their tactics to prevent similar incidents in the future.
In a related development, reports indicate that the enraged youth who previously protested at the office and residence of the District Chief Executive for Kadjebi, Wilson Agbanyo, over the death of two children have allegedly vandalized the COCOBOD office in Papase, Oti Region.
The facility’s ECG meters, as well as other lighting installations, have been vandalized.
The cause of the attack is unknown, but it is thought to be related to recent protests and disturbances in the area over the deaths of two Yadzo youths.
As a result, military personnel have been dispatched to the district to maintain law and order.
