Akwasi Bobbie Ansah, a former Asante Kotoko defender, has offered his opinions on Prosper Narteh Ogum, the team’s recently appointed head coach.
He said he doesn’t think the team will undergo significant adjustments under the coach.
Following his departure from Asante Kotoko in 2022, Ogum led the team to a historic Ghana Premier League title victory, ending an eight-year title drought.
In order to be ready for the next 2023–24 season and win back the coveted premiership championship, the 45-year-old coach is now required to oversee pre-season training and manage the team’s recruitment efforts.
Ogum is fully aware of the pressure that comes with managing Asante Kotoko, and as a result, may not feel obligated to make big changes to the current team, said Akwasi Bobie Ansah, who is familiar with the club and its dynamics.
Ansah is of the opinion that some team members require more time to mature and realize their full potential.
He said, “He (Ogum) understands that there is a lot of pressure so he doesn’t need to be told what to do,” in an interview with Kessben Sports. The participants require another opportunity to proceed. For some of them, it was either the first or second season. Now that they understand the pressure, let’s give them the chance to carry on.
