Ensure a peaceful election in 2024, as the Asantehene admonishes IGP.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has charged the Inspector General of Police to ensure the peaceful election of the 2024 General Election on December 7.

To engage stakeholders in the Ashanti Region for the New Year, the Police Management Board, under the direction of Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, made a courtesy call on the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace.

The Asantehene charged the IGP to make sure that the December election was peaceful, even as she urged the police to continue their visibility operations.

“Even though we’ve had many elections, this one seems extremely heated. I don’t know why, especially with this election, things always seem like that. I hope that you will make sure that the December election is peaceful. Let’s keep enjoying the tranquility in our nation,” Otumfuo remarked.
The Asantehene praised the IGP for keeping Yuletide incident-free and urged the Police Management Board to expand its national patrol operations.

“We should always have incident-free Christmas and New Year’s celebrations as a nation. He continued, “I am urging you and management to carry out your patrol project.

Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the IGP, pledged to uphold the police visibility plan both nationally and in the Ashanti Region.

“We’re going to keep working together to keep the nation peaceful. We will continue to work toward the 2024 elections while carrying out our work during the Yuletide, he said.

Later, to increase security, the Police Management Board spoke with members of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) to better understand their concerns.
