The players who made the Gambia national team squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) competition are not happy about their unpaid bonuses.
In protest of the unpaid bonuses they were due, the players opted to skip Tuesday, January 9th’s training session.
Despite the large turnout to watch the team practice at the Independent Stadium, the supporters were disappointed.
Tom Saintfiet, the head coach of the Gambia national team, interacted with the supporters alongside members of his technical team. Still, the supporters voiced their discontent and demanded that the authorities pay the players.
Supporters are hoping that the Gambia Football Federation will find a solution so that the Scorpions can resume practice on Wednesday.
Gambia, who is in Group C at the 2023 AFCON, will have a difficult task in their opening game against Senegal, the reigning champions.
Following that match, the Scorpions will play matches against Cameroon and Guinea.
