Samuel Boadu, a former Hearts of Oak head coach, has been named Kumasi Cornerstone FC’s new head coach.
Boadu rejoins club management after departing Hearts of Oak early in the previous campaign in the wake of a successful outcome.
The former Medeama coach has been hired as a temporary coach by the sleeping Ghanaian giants. His main objective is to lead the team back to the National Division One League after they were successfully promoted to Division Two only two seasons ago after being demoted to the fourth tier.
“It gives us great pleasure to introduce Mr. Samuel Boadu as a temporary coach. Welcome ‘Kofi Yesu’, Cornerstone Football Club posted on Twitter. “We are confident that Boadu’s experience and quality of excellence as a tactician will affect Cornerstone Football Club favorably as we work hard to recover our past glory.
just, Boadu guided the Black Satellites to the just finished WAFU B Cup of Nations, where Ghana was eliminated early from the competition in Ivory Coast.
Cornerstone FC was founded in 1931, four years before Asante Kotoko, making them the oldest active team from the Ashanti Region.
Following their two FA Cup victories in 1959 and 1965, they have a distinguished football history in Ghana as well.
In 1998, they also prevailed in the WAFU Championship.
Unfortunately, they disappeared after being demoted repeatedly lower on the Ghanaian football pyramid in the late 1990s, when they were kicked out of the top division.
