Gladson Awako, a seasoned midfielder, denied media claims that he had left Hearts of Oak and insisted that he was still a member of the team.
According to earlier reports, Awako and the Phobians have decided to part ways before the 2023–24 season even though he still has a year left on his current deal.
However, the 2009 FIFA World Cup champion downplayed such rumors in an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM, urging the public to approach it with the necessary disdain it requires.
I still have 14 to 15 months left as a Hearts of Oak player at this time. I’m glad to serve as captain of this fantastic squad even if we are currently without a coach. A new coach may adopt a different mentality.
“All I will say for the time being is that I am still a Hearts of Oak player, and when the season begins we the fans should expect different team performances. We will give out our best as we always have to make the club great again.”
Since his arrival, Awako has established himself as a crucial part of the Phobians, helping the team win the FA Cup and President Cup, among other titles.
After Fatawu Mohammed left the team, the seasoned midfielder was chosen as captain.
