Mohammed Umar and his colleagues are getting ready for this weekend’s match against HJK in the Finnish Veikkausliiga.
Following a red card against SJK on July 1, Umar was placed on suspension. This weekend, he will play in his team’s away game. Against HJK, coach Toni Kallio will probably start him. Ilves Tampere has 17 points after 15 games and is presently ranked eighth in the league.
After Ilves Tampere defeated VJS 4-0 at Myyrmäki on July 5, Umar assisted his team in moving on to the semifinals of the Finnish Cup. Along with Tatu Miettunen, the club captain, and Seydine N’Diaye, Mohammed Umar began the match in a three-man defense.
In the 17th minute, the yellow-greens scored their first goal. When Petteri Pennanen passed the ball to Haarala and the winger fired a hard-spinning ball into VJS’s box, the visitors’ third corner kick resulted in a goal. Tatu Miettunen, the captain of the Ilves, was successful in contacting the ball and scoring.
Karim Jmaali, a player for VJS, missed a penalty in the 20th minute. Ilves took the lead after the break when Pennanen converted a penalty to make it 2-0. In the 88th and 90th minutes, respectively, James Sabit and Adam Larsson scored goals.
Ilves Tampere will play Oulu in the semifinal match on August 23 as a result of the victory.
