According to sources, head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, who is in charge of player recruiting, is likely to return to Asante Kotoko.
The champions of the Ghana Premier League in 2021–2022 are currently without a reliable head coach.
Ogum, who guided the team to victory in his debut season, was fired from the club after just one season despite having a two-year contract.
Before the 2022–23 Ghana Premier League season began, Seydou Zerbo, a Burkinabe coach, took over as the former WAFA manager’s replacement.
Zerbo, however, was fired midway through the previous campaign after a loss against Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Abdul Gazali, an assistant coach, was appointed interim head coach till the completion of the campaign.
With 52 points, the team under the youthful trainer finished fourth.
However, Prosper Narteh Ogum, who left the Porcupine Warriors and is currently unattached, is reportedly heading Asante Kotoko’s player recruiting ahead of the upcoming season, according to Kumasi-based Nhyira FM.
Asante Kotoko, on the other hand, finished the 2022–23 football season without a trophy.
A new board and management are anticipated to be introduced before the start of the season. In the meanwhile, Manhyia has disbanded the 12-member board led by Dr. Kwame Kyei and the management managed by Nana Yaw Amponsah following the expiration of their terms.
The 2023–24 campaign begins in September.
